welcome to our Global Concert Exchange
"Music Connects Us" weaves together a multi-continental community of local musicians and music lovers. It is a collaboration between student and professional musicians from many countries to present an annual Global Concert Exchange. These events take place on the same date and time in multiple time zones, creating connections across continents and cultures. Performers exchange videos with each other and their communities, sharing about the music they love to play and asking each other about their daily lives in other places. Multi-generational activities invite audience participation at each concert and between audiences in each place. We commission a piece to be premiered at each concert of the Global Concert Exchange. We welcome other musicians and music teachers to join us in our growing community!
The first "Music Connects Us" concert occurred in May 2019, focusing on the theme of home and connection. Three performers-educators participated (Emma Shubin, Teddie Hwang, and Weronika Balewski) bringing together 25 student performers and 120 audience members. The photo and video exchanges are available to the public on our website under "Past Events". |
